Srinagar/Pahalgam, May 15 (KNO): The leaders and workers from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday carried out a Tiranga rally in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk to appreciate the armed forces for the successful ‘Operation Sindoor’ launched in response to the Pahalgam attack on April 22 in which 26 people, mostly tourists lost their lives.
The slogans like “Hum Hindustani hain, Hindustan hamara hai” reverberated at Srinagar’s iconic clock tower in Lal Chowk with the leaders and workers marching under the tight security arrangements.
The rally, held to mark the success of Operation Sindoor, a military action done by India after the deadly Pahalgam carnage.
According to the details collected by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the rally commenced from Sher-i-Kashmir Park near Srinagar and culminated at Lal Chowk, drawing participation from hundreds of BJP supporters and senior leaders waving the tricolour in unison.
Among the attendees was J&K BJP President Sat Sharma, who led the Tiranga Rally in Srinagar. Along with him were other leaders.
At Srinagar's clock tower, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, National Executive Member of BJP and Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board, while speaking to reporters, as per KNO, said, “Pakistan has always targeted our people, but under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is strong and fearless.”
“Operation Sindoor was a bold strike against Pakistan’s terror camps. This Tiranga Rally celebrates the bravery of our forces and sends a message to the world,” she said.
She added Jammu and Kashmir has suffered deeply due to Pak-sponsored terrorism and lauded the armed forces for executing precise and decisive action.
Meanwhile, similar rallies were carried out all over the Kashmir Valley. In South Kashmir’s Pahalgam, BJP workers and local residents took out a unique Tiranga Yatra on horses.
The rally was organised to celebrate the success of Operation Sindoor and appeal for normalcy and support from the central government to the tourism industry after the recent attack in the area.
Fayaz Ahmad, a local hotelier in Pahalgam, told KNO, tourism is the backbone. “This rally showed we want peace and growth. The government should reopen and promote our tourism sector and save our livelihoods.”
Also, BJP Vice President and former MLC Sofi Yousuf said the rally was a mark of respect to the Indian Army and appealed to the authorities to reopen tourist areas across Kashmir to revive the tourism industry and support local communities.
Similar Tiranga Yatras were held in other districts across the Kashmir Valley and Jammu region, with BJP Karyakartas holding the national flag—(KNO)
